Frequently asked questions about Rugs
How thick should a horse blanket be?
Our advice is to increase the thickness of the blanket by 100 or 200 grams after shearing. Do not focus on the number of grams of a blanket. Some blankets have a special lining that also insulates heat well. For example, a 100-gram blanket may be warmer than a 400-gram blanket.
What types of horse blankets are there?
There are a huge number of types of horse blankets, namely: Rain blankets, winter blankets, under blankets, sweat blankets, summer blankets and not to be missed during the summer: fly blankets and eczema blankets.
What are the maintenance tips for a blanket for your horse?
In all weathers, they keep our horses warm. It is important to regularly clean blankets and rid them of all mud, grass, sweat, and any other dirt. Before washing on first, brush or spray all the loose dirt off the blanket, neckpiece, or mask as much as possible. Blankets are best washed at 60 degrees, this will kill all bacteria, dust mites, and lice. Check the washing label to see if your blankets can handle this. After a wash, you will have nice clean blankets again!
What size blanket does my horse need?
Measure your horse with a tape measure from the middle of the chest to the end of the hind leg (this is where the blanket should end, this is in the same line as where the tail start). You can take this length in cm as the bottom length of the blanket. Take a look at our size guide.
